Australia vs Brazil Preview, Prediction and Match Analysis
Brazil get an immediate second opportunity to solve the problems Australia caused them in Townsville. Carlo Ancelotti's side dominated long periods of the first meeting but needed Rayan's 95th-minute header from a Raphinha corner to rescue a 1-1 draw after Nestory Irankunda put Australia ahead with a superb free-kick.
This rematch should look different because Ancelotti is preparing a heavily altered Brazil side. Seven changes have been tested, with Otávio in goal, Vanderson and Mauro Júnior at full-back, Jair alongside Gabriel Magalhães in central defence and Gabriel Bontempo brought into midfield.
The biggest tactical experiment comes in attack. Raphinha has been used centrally as a false nine, with Vinícius Júnior starting from the left and Rayan attacking from the opposite side. Rather than asking a traditional striker to remain between Australia's centre-backs, Brazil can use Raphinha's movement to pull defenders away from the penalty area and create lanes for Vini Jr and Rayan to attack.
Rayan has earned the opportunity after changing the first game from the bench. His equaliser came from an aggressive near-goal position at a corner, but his value in Brisbane could be just as important in open play. If Raphinha drops into midfield, Rayan can attack the space behind Australia's left side rather than receiving every pass with a defender directly in front of him.
Australia's plan remains dangerous for Brazil because Tony Popovic does not need his team to dominate possession. The Socceroos were comfortable defending compactly in the first match, Patrick Beach made important saves and Irankunda showed that one transition or dead-ball situation can punish Brazil even after long spells without the ball.
Brazil therefore need more than possession. Their challenge is to move Australia's back line before playing the decisive pass, prevent Irankunda receiving with space to accelerate and make better use of the moments when Vini Jr draws two defenders towards the left.

Australia vs Brazil: Tactical Preview
Raphinha's false-nine role changes the geometry of Brazil's attack. If Alessandro Circati or Harry Souttar follows him away from the defensive line, Vinícius Júnior or Rayan can attack the space created behind that centre-back. If Australia's defenders refuse to follow, Raphinha can receive between the lines and turn towards goal.
That makes Bruno Guimarães particularly important. Brazil need him to recognise when Raphinha has dragged a midfielder out of position and play forward before Australia can rebuild their block. Gabriel Bontempo's inclusion adds another midfielder capable of arriving higher rather than simply circulating possession in front of the defence.
Vinícius Júnior should again attract Australia's strongest defensive attention on Brazil's left. Brazil can exploit that without forcing every attack through him. If two defenders shift towards Vini Jr, switching quickly towards Rayan and Vanderson on the opposite side can create the one-versus-one situations Brazil struggled to manufacture consistently in Townsville.
Australia's clearest route remains Irankunda. His free-kick decided much of the first match, but his open-play speed is just as relevant. Mauro Júnior and Gabriel Magalhães cannot allow Brazil's attacks to leave the left defensive channel completely exposed because one direct pass can turn Irankunda into a runner facing his own goal rather than a winger receiving under pressure.
Brazil also have to attack set pieces with the same aggression that produced their equaliser four days earlier. Rayan's stoppage-time header showed that Australia's otherwise disciplined defensive display can still be broken when Brazil attack the six-yard area with conviction.
